Things which matter the most…

You know what’s really easy?

… Falling into the trap of endless busyness and gradually losing sight of what truly matters.

This happens just as often in our personal lives as it does at work.

You can go months without stopping to ask yourself: “Am I really focused on what matters most to me?”

We are creatures of habit—and, unfortunately, that includes bad habits.

It takes deliberate effort and intentional choices to make sure you truly put “first things first,” as Stephen R. Covey famously said.

One simple yet powerful exercise to help is the “Wheel of Life.” Sure, it might sound a little cheesy, but it’s remarkably effective. You’ll find plenty of guides online, and it only takes about 30 minutes. Often, it can be genuinely life changing.

In the workplace, prioritization is a universal challenge. Whether it’s the CEO of a billion-dollar organization or individual contributors, I’ve yet to meet anyone who doesn’t struggle with it.

The result is often the same: teams and organizations frequently lack the clarity to say they’ve delivered on what truly matters most.

The excuse? “We’re just too busy with the day-to-day.”

But here’s the hard truth: if you’re too busy to make time for continuous improvement and meaningful change, you’ll eventually become irrelevant.

So, what’s your take? Is it really so difficult to ensure that what matters most takes priority—in both our personal and professional lives?
